Cookies and Local Browser Storage
Which cookies and local browser storage this website uses, which are necessary, which require consent, and how to change your choice.
1. Overview
This website uses cookies and local browser storage. Some storage is required to remember privacy choices or provide settings expressly selected by the user. Optional Google Analytics cookies are used only after consent.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral advertising or remarketing technologies in the configuration described on this page.
This page forms part of our Privacy Notice and provides the detailed inventory of cookies and local browser storage used by the released website. The information could legally be included in the Privacy Notice itself; it is presented separately here so that the current storage inventory and the effects of an analytics choice can be found quickly.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small data records stored by a website in the browser or on the device used to access the website. Websites may also use comparable technologies such as local storage and session storage.
In this Policy, browser storage includes cookies and comparable local storage technologies unless a distinction is required.
3. Necessary storage
Necessary storage is used to provide functions expressly requested by the user or to remember a privacy choice. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Storage period |
|---|---|---|---|
accemic_consent | First-party cookie | Stores whether optional analytics was accepted or rejected | 12 months |
theme | Local storage | Stores the light or dark color theme selected by the user | Until changed or deleted |
perf | Local storage | Enables the optional local performance log | Until disabled or deleted |
The storage is based on Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG because it is required to provide the privacy choice or website setting expressly requested by the user.
The theme and perf values remain on the device. They are not transmitted to
Accemic or a third party.
4. Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies are set only if Google Analytics is configured for the released website and the user selects Accept analytics or later enables Analytics through Cookie settings.
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited.
Storage of and access to these cookies is based on consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG. The associated processing of personal data is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Before consent, no Google tag is requested or loaded, no request is sent to Google Analytics, no analytics cookie is set and no consent-state or cookieless measurement signal is sent to Google. If analytics is rejected, the Google tag remains blocked.
A return visit after consent may update an Analytics cookie and therefore begin a new 395-day expiry period. Browser restrictions or deletion by the user may shorten the effective period.
Further information is provided in Section 6 of our Privacy Notice.
5. Current storage statement
This website stores two local preferences after an explicit user action: the selected color theme and the optional local performance-log setting. These values remain in the browser and are not sent to Accemic or a third party.
The website additionally stores the analytics-consent selection in the
first-party accemic_consent cookie for 12 months so that the choice can be
respected during later visits. The same period applies to acceptance and
rejection.
Google Analytics and its cookies are loaded only after consent. No advertising, remarketing, personalized advertising or cross-site tracking technology is used in the configuration described here.
6. Changing or withdrawing your choice
You can change or withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie settings in the website footer.
Withdrawal takes effect immediately in the current browser. Further Google
Analytics events are blocked, the first-party accemic_consent cookie is
updated to record rejection for 12 months and Google Analytics cookies
accessible to this website are deleted. On later page views, the Google tag
is not loaded while the stored choice remains rejected.
You may also delete the accemic_consent cookie, other cookies and local
storage through your browser settings. Deleting accemic_consent causes the
website to request a new selection on a later visit.
Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal and does not automatically delete data already received by Google Analytics.
7. Browser controls
Most browsers allow you to view and delete cookies, clear local storage, block cookies or delete website data when the browser closes. Blocking all browser storage may prevent the website from remembering privacy and display settings.
8. Changes to the storage inventory
This inventory describes the released website. We update it before introducing an additional analytics provider, a new storage purpose, advertising or remarketing technology, embedded third-party media, social-media widgets, third-party fonts or another technology that stores information on or reads information from the user’s device.
Where a new technology requires consent, it remains blocked until the updated information has been published and valid prior consent has been obtained.
