    Integration with CQSE Teamscale

Line coverage exported for Teamscale, the software intelligence platform from CQSE, so trend and test-gap analysis can read integration-level runs.

Teamscale is the software intelligence platform of CQSE GmbH, with its own model of a code base’s history. CEDARtools.Coverage writes its line coverage in a format Teamscale reads natively, so coverage measured on an embedded target can be analyzed with the same tooling a team already uses for its desktop and server code.

This is interoperability through a file format: the export is a hand-off, and no assurance status passes in either direction with it.

    What the export carries

Line coverage per run - which lines executed, from which test. That is the input trend and test-gap analysis need, and it is the reason the export exists in this shape.

Two properties come from where the measurement was taken rather than from the export format:

    • It is the optimized executable under test - in passive mode, the binary you ship. Trace analysis measures the optimized, linked artifact on real hardware, so the map covers code paths that only exist in the integrated system.
    • It covers the integration level. Unit tests reach what unit tests can construct; the trace-based measurement also sees what only happens when the whole system runs.

How that measurement works · Coverage for test prioritization

    What it is used for

Teamscale reads the coverage and relates it to the code history. Two questions follow from that:

    • Which tests does this change affect? The test-to-code map answers it, so the relevant tests can run first instead of the whole suite in file order.
    • Which shipped code has no test behind it? A test gap is easier to argue about when it is visible, and it is the kind of finding that gets lost in a coverage percentage.

    What it is not

The export does not make Teamscale a measurement tool, and it does not make CEDARtools® part of Teamscale’s analysis. What a project concludes from the combination is the project’s argument, not a property of the interface.

Teamscale is a product of CQSE GmbH. CQSE and Accemic are not corporately affiliated, and the export transfers no assurance status between the products.
