    CEDARbox

A trace processor: control-flow reconstruction and coverage counting happen live in the FPGA, while the target runs at full speed.

CEDARbox trace processor, front panel with GTI trace inputs

    What it does

Because reconstruction and counting happen in the fabric, at line rate, the observation duration is not limited by the capacity of a raw-trace capture buffer - sustained operation depends on the verified input rate, selected analysis, trace continuity, counter capacity and configured retention policy. Whether the stream is analyzed live, retained as raw trace, or both is a configuration choice - the same box also serves as a high-rate trace capture front end.

From the trace port to evidence: the FPGA processes the stream live, the host maps and reports.

How the datapath works in detail - from trace input through reconstruction to the coverage counters, and what runs where - is described on Live trace processing.

    What it does not do

    • It cannot invent trace pins. If your board does not expose a usable trace port, no probe on the market fixes that. Ask us before you build the next revision; that conversation is much cheaper than the one afterwards.
