    CEDARtools.Stream / .StreamX

Two trace tools with live processing, in development: Stream for 4-pin Cortex®-M parallel trace, StreamX for 32-bit parallel and serial trace input.

We are building the next CEDARtools® trace tools in private; what is public today is on this page.

    New hardware is coming

The next generation of Accemic trace hardware is designed around one goal: make continuous, live trace observation scale with the processor instead of with a capture buffer - and put it within reach of teams for whom trace tooling has so far been out of scope. Trace has been a specialist instrument, expensive and reserved for the few projects that could justify it. We intend to change that.

Two tools carry it: CEDARtools.Stream and CEDARtools.StreamX. We are building them in private; the verified sustained rates per target and configuration follow with the release, not before.

    What we can already say:

    • CEDARtools.Stream - a trace tool with parallel input (4-pin Cortex®-M) and live processing. The verified sustained rate is stated per target, trace configuration and release.
    • CEDARtools.StreamX - a trace tool with parallel input (32-bit) and serial input (Aurora, AGBT, PCIe®), for trace sources with higher output bandwidth. The verified sustained rate is stated per target, trace configuration and release.

Live processing means the same architectural property as in the CEDARbox: the stream is decoded and analyzed as it arrives, so observation duration is not bounded by the capacity of a capture buffer.

Both are designed so that the decoding stage is not the limit. What a configuration can sustain is set by the trace bandwidth the source and the transport deliver, not by how fast the tool can decode what arrives. The verified sustained rate per target and configuration follows with the release.
